The Radiation Telescope instrument is based on the classical scheme of a silicon telescope: a number of coaxial silicon detectors measure transit charged particles. The goal of the unit is to monitor charged particles of medium to high energies: Ee > ~100 keV in several differential and integral energy channels, Ep > ~1 MeV in several differential and integral energy channels, Ee > 3 MeV.
Instrument is made in several available designs (‘b’, ‘g’, and ‘f’) to optimize its placement onboard the satellite depending to the unit’s tasks (as shown further).
‘b’ and ‘f’ fit in general CubeSat structure, including PC/104 mounting points if necessary, and has an effective volume of ~1/4U to ~1/2U and corresponding mass less than 0.3 kg.
‘g’ is designed for Tuna Can CubeSat external volume and has a mass less than 0.5 kg.
Auxiliary sensors supply readings for temperature, acceleration, angular velocity (gyro), and magnetic field (magnetometer).
The Radiation Telescope can be purchased in a bundle along with a Cherenkov Sensor.
