Zohar – Radiation telescope
Mission Space
Mission Space's Zohar Cherenkov Sensor product line
The instrument is an assembly of transparent crystals with SiPMs for detecting Cherenkov flashes from relativistic electrons and protons. The total area of the crystals is 100 cm2. It is specially designed for monitoring measurements of cosmic rays. It is sensitive to protons with energies of 450…500 MeV and higher, which is close to the maximum intensity of cosmic rays’ spectrum. It also detects electrons Ee > ~3 MeV.
Auxiliary sensors supply readings for temperature, acceleration, angular velocity (gyro), and magnetic field (magnetometer).
