Mission Concept Analysis

Satellite missions are complex enterprises involving multiple organizations, systems, and subsystems that must work together correctly for the mission to succeed in the harsh environment of space. A significant effort dedicated to analysis and planning is required for success, resulting in a Mission Concept Analysis (MCA). An MCA identifies the full scope of the mission, collects mission requirements, develops the mission concept and high-level architecture for meeting those requirements, establishes technical measures for success, performs preliminary technical analyses, selects initial system elements, assesses the mission risks and feasibility, and provides initial cost and schedule estimates for the full mission lifecycle.
